4/30/2023 0 Comments Desktop curtainAt $1.99 in the Mac App Store, it’s a steal. It’s also a great app for presenters and writers who want to focus on one app at a time without seeing anything else. So far, I’m impressed with Desktop Curtain’s usability because it’s a really easy-to-use app that allows me to quickly unclutter my desktop and take the screenshots I want without having to worry about editing. This way, I can take better screenshots that don’t need further editing before going live on this website. Most of all, you can tweak the app’s behavior with other application windows: you can set Desktop Curtain to work normally like any other window, make it cover all items on the desktop or choose (like I did) to invoke a keyboard shortcut that isolates the frontmost app and applies a different wallpaper which hides clutter from the desktop. You can also set different scaling and centering options for the “curtain”, affected screens if you’re using multiple displays and even tell the app to behave in certain ways when Exposè is activated. You can select the image of your choice from the usual Finder navigation window or just drag it onto Desktop Curtain’s wallpaper preview. ![]() You can change this background in the app’s Preferences by choosing the Mac’s Aurora wallpaper instead or manually picking an image from your Finder. For me, this is incredibly handy as I can pick the app I need to capture in a screenshot for MacStories and avoid additional modifications in Acorn or Preview.īy default, Desktop Curtain (as the name suggests) applies a curtain to your desktop. And just like the Witch 3.9.8 update, the App Store version of Desktop Curtain has lost Spaces support.(See the linked Witch 3.9.8 post for the nitty-gritty on why we had to do this and keep reading this post to see how you can regain Spaces support. Desktop Curtain hides the clutter on your desktop, isolates the app you’re currently using and lets you focus on that app with no files, folders or other distractions around it. Today’s release of Desktop Curtain 3.0.6 marks our second straight update that removes a feature for App Store users. The concept is simple, and fits with one my most performed tasks on the Mac: screenshots. The equipment is continuously operated for a long period of ≥10,000 h, which is equivalent to the lifetime of LEDs.Desktop Curtain, a $1.99 app available in the Mac App Store, has become one of my most used utilities these past few days. ![]() In addition, LEDs are used for deep ultraviolet irradiation and no filters are required. The virus inactivation equipment can keep the air-curtain flow free of viruses. According to the results of experiments carried out at Nagoya Medical Center, a SARS-CoV-2 inactivation rate of 99.91% was achieved. The viruses in the air-curtain flow are inactivated by deep ultraviolet irradiation using LEDs. In addition, the research group succeeded in the development of original virus inactivation equipment that can be used with the desktop air-curtain equipment. The research group has succeeded in developing the desktop air-curtain equipment that can generate an air wall (or air-curtain flow) to block aerosols contained in the expiration from patients even when a sufficient distance cannot be maintained. Therefore, the reduction of exposure of medical practitioners to viruses is an urgent and important issue. However, it is difficult to maintain a sufficient distance between patients and medical practitioners in some medical tasks, such as interviews, blood drawing, and treatment procedures. ![]() It has been shown that social distancing is effective in suppressing the spread of SARS-CoV-2. The fusion of the technologies in medical and engineering fields realized the inactivation of viruses by deep ultraviolet irradiation using light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and the control of air-curtain flow. This equipment was realized in cooperation with the members of Nagoya University Hospital, Nagoya Medical Center, and Apollo Giken Co., Ltd. A research group led by Professors Tomomi Uchiyama and Hiroshi Amano of the Institute of Materials and Systems Sustainability, Nagoya University, and Professor Tetsuya Yagi of the Graduate School of Medicine, Nagoya University, has developed desktop air-curtain equipment realizing an inactivation rate of 99.91% for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
